Why “The Gate Keeper”?

Over the years, as I have pondered writing, I have always wondered what I would title an article or a blog post. Currently, where I am at in life today, the current title of my blog is so fitting! Right now, being a full-time wife and mother, and doing the best to manage our household, give in our marriage, do the best to help raise successful adults that have good morals and values and good decision-making skills… This title means a lot to me! Over the years, I’m not sure I would have used this specific title. Life changes so much in such a short time and we just learn to adapt over time, don’t we? It’s not always easy! Actually, it’s never really easy, but we get to choose how we react or respond to every situation. Choose joy! Choose to be solution minded! I better be careful before I go in 100 different tangents! Really, I just wanted to get on real quick and share why I felt like the title of this blog is what it is. It’s really an overall view of my life. Protecting and keeping the gate around my family, my friendships, our health and finances, etc. Now, don’t confuse me saying “gate” as being closed off… I definitely do not mean that. What I do mean is just simply protecting what comes in and out of our home and lives. Don’t they say that be careful who you surround yourself with? Who you surround yourself with on a daily basis will make or break the decisions you make and who you become in the future? I am by no means perfect at this, none of us are! I always strive to do my best to be a long-term thinker, as well as living in the moment… Which balancing those two things is incredibly difficult at times!  I am beyond excited to share in so many different aspects of these topics in this journey. Bear with me! We are going to have fun!
